Streetfest 2022 is slated as a fundraising celebration for the small community of Celestine, Indiana. This celebration will find the entire area gathering for a day of good times while also raising money for the service organizations in the community.
The one-day event will be held on the grounds of St. Celestine Church on Saturday, June 25th, with the gorgeous scenery of the rolling hills of Celestine on full display. Streetfest 2022 is free to attend. Parking and beer garden access is also free. It is an all-ages-friendly event with fun for the whole family!
Saturday's activities begin with a 5K race, a tractor show, and a large car show in Celestine Park. Kids games, a pet parade, a kiddie tractor pull, and inflatables in the Kids Zone presented by German American Bank get started at 10 am. Midday activities include a free community scavenger hunt, a sheephead card game tourney, and a performance by The Clogging Clovers featuring local 4H youth.
The food stand will open at 10 am, and the Beer Garden will open at noon. The midafternoon features the Car Show Awards. Catholic Mass will be held in St. Celestine Church at 4 pm.
Celestine is well regarded for its outstanding history of delicious locally prepared food. This year’s event is focused on easy-to-carry-around classics like Celestine Nachos (fajita beef, pulled pork, or chicken) and tenderloin sandwiches along with hamburgers and turkey tenders. Almost all meats served are locally grown and processed to add to the hometown flair. To make the meal complete, all types of fresh-made sweets and desserts will be sold by local community organizations. The area’s strong German heritage always shows itself through packed attendance at a beloved beer garden through the 1 am closing time.
The “rain or shine" fest is set to be staged on paved parking lots at St. Celestine Church and its grounds, as well as Celestine Park. Huge tents, including the 120-foot-long Family Tent, presented by Hoosier Hills Credit Union, and many tables and chairs will accommodate several thousand guests. Plentiful parking is available in the fields and streets around Celestine. There will be a drop-off spot at the top of the west side of the church hill, and handicapped and elderly may park at the top on the west side as well. For the second time, the Celestine Park will recognize their annual Celestine Distinguished Service Award winner and other 2022 nominees at Streetfest on the main stage at 6:15 pm.
The fun continues into the evening with the Kids Zone and inflatables remaining open until 7 pm. Families will be able to enjoy a free interactive Silly Safaris animal show in the Kids Zone at 7:00 pm.
“There's honestly something for everyone at this event!” Shares Streetfest Advertising Chairperson Dawn Schnell. “So many fun events for the kids. Great opportunities to gather with your family and friends with the scavenger hunt and pet parade, which I'm excited to watch. The day has some of the best entertainment in Dubois County, and it's always great catching up with friends.”
Streetfest 2022’s main stage headliner is Mustache The Band, presented by Spring Valley Bank & Trust. Hailing from Oxford Mississippi, they present themselves as the world’s most powerful 1990s country music party band. Their performance, from 8 pm to 11 pm on the main stage, will feature dozens of classics from country music’s fun-loving 1990s era. Songs by artists such as Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, George Strait, Shania Twain, Brooks & Dunn, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jo Dee Messina, Kenny Chesney, and Toby Keith will be performed in faithful versions. Mustache is a top club draw across the South, packing venues every week with people looking to have a good time listening to great music.
Streetfest Entertainment Chairperson Tony Buechler shares about Mustache The Band: “Mustache is a raging Dubois County party live on stage. Playing a mix of classic 1990s country songs from a wide range of artists they provide the perfect atmosphere for a fun night out. Mustache is different than a tribute band to a single act, they are a tribute to a whole decade and genre of music with individual members appearing with the look of different famous county artists, such as Alan Jackson and Kix Brooks. Their unique name comes from their pitch line that every great 1990s country artist had a mustache. Their playful attitude on stage gets the crowd to chant Mustache at the end of every song.”
Before Mustache The Band takes the stage, there will be a mustache contest with cash prizes. Categories include Best Looking, Most Unique, and Ugliest
Treasure Hunt – The Celestine Park has been holding a fundraising Treasure Hunt contest to raise funds for its building renovation and addition project. If a lucky chance buyer this week picks the right number, the name drawn this week could win the current grand prize of $19,212 or several other smaller prizes. Tickets will be sold at the car show from 10 am to 2 pm and then near the main food booth from 3 pm until 8 pm. The drawing will take place at 9 pm at the Celestine Park live on their Facebook page and will be reported from the main stage during a band break. The winner does not need to be present to claim their prize.
On the main stage before Mustache The Band, will be local singer Evan Massey performing live acoustic country hits and classics.
The evening’s good times are rounded out by Dubois County legend Boogie Tunes Entertainment playing its party DJ music in the beer garden from 11 pm to 1 am. Boogie Tunes always packs the beer garden stage with hundreds dancing their hearts out well after midnight.
“The Celestine Streetfest is important to the community because it’s just a great relationship building event, “ says Streetfest Leadership Board Member Glen Schepers. “All members of the community come together to prepare for it, work together during it, enjoy the festivities when they’re not working, and then finally cleaning up. It’s tremendous to see the community come together. And it’s not just this community, neighboring communities offering their support as well.”
Proceeds from the fest will be distributed to the organizations and charities of the Celestine community. The fest leadership team would like to extend its thanks to the large pool of sponsors and volunteers who are coming together to make the fest a success!
Celestine is located in Southwestern Indiana, near Jasper and Patoka Lake, on the eastern edge of Dubois County.

Please join us for the Streetfest 2022 Kick-Off Meeting -Thursday, January 13 @ 7 pm - Celestine Park
Streetfest 2021 was a BIG success and we are getting ready to make Streetfest 2022 just as big on Saturday, June 25, 2022!
We ask all chairpersons to join us so we can kick off the planning. We are looking for new and improved ideas for the event schedule. Anyone interested in the fest is encouraged to attend and get involved. There are several areas that need more help. We ask all of the main organizations to make sure they have a representative in attendance.
The fest continues to need several new board members to join up for the 2022 event. Come to the meeting to learn more and help this outstanding fundraiser continue!
Please contact Tony Buechler 812.827.8430 if you have things to be added to the agenda of the meeting.
THANK YOU FOR HELPING MAKE STREETFEST A SUCCESS!

STREETFEST 2022 - SATURDAY, JUNE 25, 2022
We are excited to announce that Celestine Streetfest returns in 2022! Please put Saturday, June 25, 2022, on your calendars now for a day full of community fun, music, food, and cold drinks! The event will remain a packed one-day event based on the St. Celestine Church grounds. We anticipate the schedule will look very similar to the 2021 event.
STREETFEST 2021 - A HUGE SUCCESS
Streetfest 2021 was our most successful one-day Streetfest yet, both financially and in terms of the number of attendees. We had a great crowd and warm weather (but thankfully no rain). It was a challenging event after losing 2020 to COVID; the annual momentum really helps a lot and was sorely missed.
As always there were rave reviews for our food and festive beer garden. The Def Leppard tribute band, Def Leggend, packed people in front of the stage and brought a visual show that Celestine had never seen before. The car show was very well attended, the 5K, and games & contests were all very much fun and well attended. The awarding of the Celestine Park Distinguished service award from the main stage was a great addition as well. We were particularly happy with the very well-attended Kids Zone which was just packed most of the day until the evening closing.
Someone commented to the leadership team about what an excellent fest Streetfest is. Well organized, very affordable, incredibly friendly, and fun. They marveled at how Celestine pulls off what they consider one of the very best festivals in the county while being a small town. We know the answer to that, it’s the amazing people of Celestine who love their town and festival.
NEW BOARD MEMBERS ARE NEEDED!
Most importantly for the long-term success of the fest, Celestine Streetfest / Community of Celestine Inc. needs several new board members to join before the end of Winter 2021/2022 to help the current board members steer the 2022 Streetfest. Anyone of any age is welcome to join the current leadership team of Tony Buechler, Glen Schepers, and Marc Lampert. Streetfest is blessed with an outstanding large pool of volunteers who make the fest happen, but all good events need a group to steer the event to success and keep the momentum going.
Board members in general are not who make the event happen, but they do provide leadership and oversight for a successful event. Tony Buechler will be stepping down from the chairperson role following the 2022 event after 3 years of service. He will still be involved in his roles in entertainment and marketing.
Being a board member is not that time-consuming; it involves some organizational meetings and communication each year but thankfully Streetfest is a really well-planned and established event. The wheel is not being reinvented each year.
The fest is very healthy with area chairpersons taking the lead on food, beer garden, finance, sponsorships, entertainment, advertising, promotions, etc. Someone who joins the board should fit the following characteristics:
Loves the Celestine Community
Loves the Celestine Streetfest
Desires to help the community through the fellowship, unity, and fundraising the event creates
Gets satisfaction from the success of a well-planned event
Wants to see the Streetfest continue for the community goodwill, pride, and fundraising it provides
The Streetfest Board does the following:
Oversees the Streetfest to make sure it is a success
Sets the event budget
Sets the event schedule
Reviews and collaborates on the major decisions of the fest with the area chairpersons (sponsorship, entertainment, advertising, kids activities, food menu, etc).
Collectively leads the fest public meetings
Attends private planning meetings
Keeps in communication with other board members and area chairpersons
Follows the already developed excellent detailed event planning schedule in the months leading up to the fest
Communicates with the main organizations and chairpersons to make sure those areas are prepared for the fest.

THANK YOUS FOR 2021
Thank you to all of the groups who took leadership for the major areas of the fest. Thank you to the chairpersons and sub chairpersons of those areas. Thank you to all of the volunteers who come out and work a shift (or multiple shifts) on the day of the event. Thank you to those who come out to help in the days leading up to the event. Thank you to those who turn out on Sunday to tear down and clean up and then return borrowed items. Thank you to the local charity groups who come out and put up stands. Thank you to the folks who volunteer to be on the leadership board. It takes a large team to execute an event like this.
THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS
The secret sauce of our event is that we have such amazing support from local businesses through sponsorships. They provide the financial support that helps us put on a destination event to draw those thousands of people to Celestine for the fest. We hope our sponsors will continue their support of our event, and in turn, the community of Celestine at large through the profits Streetfest generates.
FINANCIAL REPORT
Speaking of profits, there was a GREAT profit in 2021, our biggest ever with right at $30,000 since the closing of the books on Streetfest 2019. We took in roughly $70,000 in income and sponsorships for the 2021 event with about $40,000 in expenses. $5,000 distribution checks have been presented to each of the following organizations: Celestine Community Club, Celestine Park, Good Shepherd of the Hills Knights of Columbus Council, Celestine Volunteer Fire Department, Northeast Dubois Parent Teacher Organization, and St. Isidore Parish for a total of $30,000 being put back into the community from the 2021 event! Outstanding!
MUSTACHE IS COMING!
We have a big-time fun musical headliner coming for Streetfest 2022! We are bringing the best Country music tribute in the South, Mustache The Band, the World’s Most Powerful 90s Country Party Band! Hailing from Mississippi, they are the band that’ll grow on you (get it, like a mustache). Mustache delivers a powerful performance of all of the favorite country hits from the 1990s. With well over 125 songs under their buckles, you are guaranteed to have a non-stop party on your hands. Mustache The Band will take you on a journey into the ’90s... back when sleeveless tanks, high tops, cowboy boots, two paneled button downs, and mustaches ruled country music. In order to set the tone at every show, fans are provided with their very own mustaches to enjoy. If the crowd is ready to get down on the farm, Mustache The Band will take them there. To celebrate all things 90’s we are going to have a “best guys mullet” and “best female high hair” contests with judges awarding cash prizes!
JUST WHAT IS STREETFEST?
Streetfest is an event that was created to bring the community together for a day of fundraising fun. Profits go to the groups that take leadership and make the fest happen. The Club runs the beer garden, The Park and K of C run the food stand, the Fire Department provides security and safety, The PTO runs the Kids Zone and St. Isidore is our host and provides a lot of logistical support.
YOU ARE PART OF CELESTINE AND CELESTINE NEEDS YOU!
Celestine Streetfest has only become successful because of the overwhelming dedication of the volunteers who sign up and work a shift but also get involved with the organizing and leadership of the event. We have a lot of people who work on the day of the fest, but also a large number of people who work before and after the fest too. If you are a proud member of Celestine we ask you to find time to support this event which is the single biggest fundraiser in the community. It is an event you won’t be sorry for contributing your time too!
We know how important it is to have an event that can bring the entire community together to have a wonderfully fun (and profitable) day that welcomes many to our wonderful little town.
For the 2022 event, we need many more people in the community to step forward and volunteer their time on the day of the event and also in the setup days before and the clean-up days after. With the complicated situation of COVID and missing a year we were short-handed in several areas. We hope that won’t be the case in 2022. Please give of your time; it really benefits the whole community!
Please join us for the Streetfest 2021 Wrap Up, Review & Celebration meeting on Wednesday, August 11th at 7pm at Celestine Park.
Streetfest 2021 was a BIG success. At this meeting we will exchange notes and document what worked great and any possible improvements. We will talk about the future of the fest and confirm that the groups who make it happen want it to continue.
There will be free pizza and drinks for anyone who attends.
We ask a few people from each stand/area to attend. If possible please bring a copy of your workers list.
We will have a tentative financial report to review.
Anyone interested in the fest is encouraged to attend and get involved. There are several areas that need more help. We ask all of the main organizations to make sure they have a representative in attendance.
Please contact Tony Buechler 812.827.8430 if you have things to be on the agenda of the meeting.
